The group also pool their money together to buy a new Catterson-Smith kiln, and once this is installed, began to fire their work, using the red earthenware body from the Fulham potteries and glaze composed mainly of red lead, which they bought dry from the ironmongers. John writes “We have no idea what a poison it was, though we did perhaps know that it shouldn't be eaten by the spoonful.”

45 lbs red lead
17 builders sand
9 ½ White body
2 1/4 ounces of crocus martis.
