Now Derek has more space to himself he starts to produce new moulds, but these are for slip casting, ’Open moulds’,a simple way to reproduce a form. The idea being, you pouring the slip in and allowing the plaster to draw in the water, and so build up a residue of clay, the wall of the pot. Pouring out the excess leaving the thin skin of clay, which when firm enough is released from the plaster mould. The longer it stays in the mould the thicker the pot wall.
